I think if you just open a request, they will install it for you, this is far easier and has less risk to something wrong, the software is great, no doubt.

This is an interesting post. We are currently at quote stage with edirectory and other website developers. Everyone else pushes a script of a custom built application. We really like the idea of a product that is done and continually upgraded. My only concern right now is finding someone to help with the design of the site and the customization so it has a unique feel. Being based in Australia we do not want a massive time difference. If someone can recommend a deisgn or web design team with experience in e-directory would be great. I am also concerned about having great SEO and read another post about site maps not working correctly. I am wondering if SEO development with Google and Bing is high on the agenda?
Thanks

You can change that information by editing the footer dynamic content. It can be found here:

Or by going to Sitemgr -> Site Content (Left Menu) -> General -> Footer.

I hope it helps!

We purchased this great software some time ago and your question here was my first thougts about this forum too.
Now Im glad to hear about the answers, since I think that the script is going to be developed more and more.

Yeah, I also think that people tend to do reviews, but you must create a layout where their attention is on a kind of review button. Or you cold create an image for the slider, where you "advertise" for reviewing.
Hope it helps.

Rather than an email sent out for each deal redeemed, I'd rather see the sponsor area have the ability to view deal details similar to what we see. When we go to Deals > View we can see the person who redeemed a deal, if they posted it on Facebook or Twitter, the date it was redeemed, and the status with a radio button we can click to do something (what I haven't figured out yet).

I would like sponsors to see at least the date it was redeemed and the redemption code. Then they know how successful that deal was, and I don't have to go in and collect that information to mail to them each month.

Hi guys

I'm really glad to hear this. Like I said, edirectory is the BEST directory software out there by a LONG way. So, I'm really pleased to hear that it's constantly being developed.

If there's any chance of perhaps blogging a bit more frequently, I think this would be a really valuable way for you guys to let your customers - and prospective customers - know a little bit more about what's happening.

Thanks Jimmy.

I appreciate you telling me where you edited your information, and providing that link was a huge help. It allowed me to see exactly what you were talking about.

I'll contact support about it, because my sponsor area has nothing in it. When I click the sponsor heading it says "Found 0 records." So it looks like there is something wrong with my install, because I have nothing to edit, and there is no feature in there that would allow me to create content like there is in the custom pages section.

I'm glad that you were here to help and give me advice. Now on a side note for anyone from the edirectory team, it is VERY disappointing that I am spending money on this service with you and all my answers came from another member. It's been 4 days since my first post asking this question and not once has a someone from support offered an assistance in here on this. When this is a spot you are using to offer assistance o your members, someone should be looking at this several times a day and offering assistance.

Thanks a lot for your help Jimmy,

Ok, I found it...kinda by accident though. I think there is room for some improvement on how that works. I think that defaulting to something that what will not pass the field check whenever the listing is created if they at least do not drop the list down and see the different options would work better. As it is now, it's very easy to skip and possibly lose money by not letting the end user know that they can purchase an extended directory listing.

I understand Listing Types and I know how to build them. What I don't know is how to make the additional fields display on the create or edit listing form. The preview shows them but I can't get them working. The way I understand it is when someone adds a category (i.e. Restaurants) to their listing, if there is a Listing Type that has that category associated with it, the additional fields appear on the Edit Listing page. The documentation gets you through the 'how to create listing types' but falls short on explaining how you implement them with this version of the product. What I am looking for is something that says "Now that you have created your Listing Types, here is a step by step guide on how you get them to show up".

Thanks for the help!

I agree that I don't think the full name of the listing owner nor the reviewer should be displayed. I would rather have the first name and last initial displayed or maybe a user name/display name that is created during the sign up process. I think that some folks (myself included) may be more hesitant to review knowing their full name is displayed. To go even further, I think that the full name should not even be displayed on the user profile. I've looked at other directory sites and it seems that this is the norm. Even this forum protects the full name of the user.

I'm not sure if u hav access to the code, but this problem can be easily solved by copying the /theme content from the root folder to the theme folder inside custom/domain_(ID).

Whenever the form pops up from clicking the "Email to Friend", the text boxes are very hard to see, if not invisible. The form background is white and the textboxes do not have the 3-D effect but rather flat which makes them blend into the background. I didnt even see them the first time, I just clicked onto the form and noticed that something had the cursor focus. I was then able to click into the other fields to input the data. The "Additional message" box looks as it should. Is there a way to edit the background color of these pop-up forms so that all of the fields can be seen? Or, make all of the fields on these forms have the 3-D effect.

Thanks in advance!!

As Carlos indicated ---- we're in the midst of migrating our support systems.

Apology for the lack of activity on the blog to make these announcements, no excuses there. For some of our smaller scale releases that entail minor additions, small changes or perhaps bug fixes, we don't usually make a big deal about (press releases or blog posts).

eDirectory is a true software solution -- not a script you might buy off of the internet for $50 or $75 and because of that, you can be rest assured that we will continue to grow and develop on our product, as well as provide you with a support team of 10-15 reps, a custom development team of equal size, and an ever growing base code team that works only on developing and enhancing the product. In short, we've never been more dedicated to growing our product and developing new products as well. Our servers are hosted at a tier 1 facility and are monitored 24/7. This is what separates eDirectory, the software company, from a script you may purchase off of the web.

Please feel free to give me a call directory if you have any questions at all. More than happy to address any concerns you might have.

Hey Michael,

I'd confirm that with their staff but afaik thats not somethin u can do thru the admin acct. What did myself was adding that content to the members page using the site content thing to add html content to the header and footer in their backend. Worked like charm in my case ;)

Hello Joey,

Thank you for the feedback.

We are actually migrating from the forum to a modern help desk system that will allow the community members to post public questions that can be rated among the visitors according to it effectiveness.

The plan on the long run is have all the questions migrated over to the new system that will not only support questions, but also provide a vast knowledge database, allowing us to provide our customers with higher quality information. I am sure it will be very helpful.

You can check the new system through the following URL:
http://support.edirectory.com/

---

We're constantly improving and launching newer versions of our software as can be seen through www.demodirectory.com, so you don't have to worry about eDirectory development, we are working hard everyday to bring you a better product.

If you have any questions or need any clarification, feel free to contact us again anytime.

Regards,

Hi Edirectory staff

You have a great product (at the moment) and it is clearly superior to every alternative out there. There is no question about that!

However, I am quite concerned about the lack of committment shown to the forums.

Also, I note that you have not updated the blog since August 2011.

Furthermore, no major update has occurred since August 2011.

Is Edirectory still being actively developed or is it a script that is being sold (and gradually run down by competitors)?

Would love to hear from EDirectory staff on these matters.

Kind regards, Joe

I would like to know if it is possible to create a custom nav menu that only shows to sponsors when they are logged in. I have noticed that when creating FAQ's, there is a feature that allows you to set them to front, sponsors or site managers. I want to know if we can do something like that with our navigation menus?

What I want to do is have a menu item that only shows up to sponsors when they are logged in. I want to create some videos that walk the sponsor through creating their listings and their deals, but I don't want regular visitors to see them. I also want to create a user manual inside the sponsors area that regular visitors do not see.

Is there a feature that allows this that I am missing somewhere. I am running this on a hosted account, not an owned account, so I do not have access to change any of the coding myself.

I think for SEO purposes subdomains are the best option. This is mainly how professional websites work like.

i think this feature depends on what you are using your edirectory Site for.
In most cases the stock purpose and functionality of deals is still best like it is. This way its much lucrative for people to choose the top level listing type.

As I think!

Having just bought eDirectory 9 I was surprised that this is not a standard feature.. it would certainly make sense to extend payment options to Deals.. especially as consumers are so used to transacting directly through websites since the surge in the daily deals space.

I would definitely pay for this as an add-on module if you guys would consider building it.
